Mariner’s Way Sculpture – knots completed
Hello,
I have great news that I have now completed the knots for the Mariner’s Way Project.
The total number of knots comes to 146,000 and of the 6,000meters of Tarred Marlin rope I used; the total length has been reduced to 1,300m. It took me the best part of 6 months to do (av.380hours) and after wearing through a dozen gloves I am happy to say that it is now finished. I would like to thank my two friends, Hannah Faye Ridson and Janne Kaas who both took on the challenge of making 10,000 knots each.
The next task is to construct the knots into a ball of rope which will be exhibited in May 2012 at Exeter University. I will be sending out invites to the opening shortly and attach some more information about the walk on my blog.
